Aerlit Shuttle
Aerlit Shuttle
Handy Hands has worked with several tatters to reproduce this shuttle.
A special THANK-YOU to Sherry Townsend, Karen Beary Parent, Georgia Seitz, Jane Eborall and Kendra Goodnow for all their help!!!
A little History
The original gray shuttle that stated "Made in England" which was the first shuttle, there was a fire and the factory was destroyed
including the mold. Then came the gray shuttle that stated "Aero Made in England". Both shuttles look the same but are VERY different!
On the market now is the Pony shuttle and the Susan Bates shuttle which they tried to reproduce the "Aero Made in England" design.
The gray shuttle that stated "Made in Germany was a reproduction of the original "Made in England" design. This shuttle is now made in
Mexico and has NO information on the shuttle. The bobbin in this shuttle just spins as in my opinion the problem is the mold is old
and needs to be re-made which is very expense.
For more reading information on history here are two different links which came from Jane Eborall blog.
Factory Fire - Milward-Areo information
The NEW Aerlit Shuttle has been reproduced from the "Made in England" shuttle as this was by far the BEST shuttle. I have corresponded
with several tatters that still have that old original "Made in England" shuttle and sevral are still using it!
With the help of Sherry Townsend letting me borrow one of her shuttles and bobbins so we could have it re-made!
We had four different samples come from our factory for tatters to test. Finally after months and months of working to find the
best plastic and be sure the design was correct we were been able to reproduce it.
The "Made in England" shuttle, tested by shuttle tatters!
Thank-you to the following winners that helped name the above combinations.
Susie Arnolt, Jane Eborall, Sally Kerson, Perrin Kliot, Carolyn Regnier, Marie Smith, Phyllis Schmidt and Sherry Townsend.
